Canal Street

Richard Bona, probably one of the best bassists in the world, gave us an unforgettable performance.

Warming up for Melody Gardot he made it hard for the young american jazzartist to follow.
As we say in Norway; "It's like jumping after Bjørn Wirkola."

One of the best concerts I have attended in many years.

Anders,

I am an American reader of your blog. (I just happened upon it in a search.) We haven't seen all that much of Melody Gardot in the past 2.5 years in the States; she has spent most of her time in Europe or on tour elsewhere, including Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and Korea this past spring.

I was wondering how she seemed in the performance you saw. Someone took a video of part of her performance in Gothenburg, Sweden on July 27. Her voice broke a little at a couple of points. I got the impression she was quite tired. She has mentioned her level of fatigue a number of times on Twitter recently. In particular, she commented that given the opportunity she could sleep for a year. All this confirms my feeling that her tour schedule has been pretty brutal, especially in light of her physical limitations, and the European travel disruptions in early June. It's actually quite amazing how well she holds up, and how good most of her performances are under the circumstances.
